Testimonials for Photo Workshops and Tours: "We had a truly wonderful time on the workshop. We have been to Mashatu several times and the time spent with Shem enhanced an already wonderful experience. His photographic knowledge and ability to confer that knowledge made for a fantastic learning opportunity. However his familiarity with the area and love and passion for nature made it a truly unique trip and one we hope to repeat."
Mike and Vicky Morford, April 2010
"Mashatu is a very nice Game Reserve, specially in this period of year, April. Green colours all around and yellow flowers patches provides a surprisingly contrast to the game sights. Landscape is astonishing. Rangers are very experienced and keen to support u on getting perfect picture positions. A very good experience, that must be repeated." Jordie Ferdandez, April 2010
"We had previously had a wonderful trip to Botswana in June and this second visit in December did not disappoint. We had several unforgettable wildlife encounters. We would recommend a C4 Images and Safaris photo tour if you want a well organised trip where photographic opportunities are maximised, there is good camaraderie and the extremely knowledgeable guides are also great company."
Maggie and Peter Manson, December 2009
"Absolutely amazing, awesome wonderful...I don't really have the words! As a beginner I found the workshop the perfect opportunity to develop my skills and I learnt so much that I cannot wait for the next opportunity to practice. Meeting like-minded people with a passion for the bush and photography was a pleasure and I can only commend Mashatu for their patience, knowledge and willingness to accommodate photographer's request. Isak is a very talented, passionate photographer who was willing to share his knowledge and experience, and it was a privilege to learn from him. I found the course very well organized and can highly reccommend it to anyone with an interest in photography and the bush. Very happy memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you all." Marjoelein Jansen, October 2009
"The workshop was very well organized, informative and fun. The environment was casual and relaxed but a lot of knowledge was shared so I learned a lot. The lodge was excellent and the Delta is fantastic for photo opportunities - will definitely join another C4 Images and Safaris trip." Vicky Johnson, November 2009
"Shem and his associates help break down barriers in Photographers capabilities to allow them to perform at their best" Guy and Alice Larin, November 2009 "An excellent destination to conduct a field workshop. At the current price I won't hesitate to join again. The experience and sightings will always be part of my memory. Thanks Shem for yet another few beautiful days out in nature!" Johann Mader, November 2009
"The trip to the Masai Mara was a trip of a lifetime. We had incredible sightings and Shem and Greg were always on hand to share their experience with us. We were not serious photographers when we set out on the trip but I think the bug has bitten after experiencing the incredible sightings we had. The arrangements for and during the trip were efficient and well planned. We can highly recommend C4 Images and Safaris to anyone who is considering a trip. " Frank and Heather Ferreira, September 2009
"The Masai Mara 2009 tour far exceeded all of my expectations. It was an enjoyable blend of great wildlife viewing and photographic opportunities. The experience and knowledge of both Shem and Greg made the tour one of the most constructive holidays of my life. "
Neil McDonald, September 2009
"The saying that the migration of wildebeest in the Masai Mara is the greatest natural show on earth is a reality. Everything in the Masai Mara is outstanding and can only aptly be described by adjectives such as its golden grasslands, big skies, prolific wildlife, unbelievable predator sightings, breathtaking sunsets/rises, red-robed Maasai people and many more. In addition to its visual attractiveness, a visit to the Masai Mara is an emotional experience."
Andre Lighthelm, September 2009
"Well run trip for the avid photographer. Lot's of time to take the pictures and lots of different wildlife to see. With most things, a certain element of luck is involved so one must enjoy the experience as best as possible. Will be back again."
Gary Hughes, September 209
"I was so lucky to be there and to share in the pixel shedding!! This was an absolutely amazing adventure. Thanks to Shem and Andre who made it really worthwhile as well as the friendly staff of Mashatu. This workshop is a must for every keen photographer, with or without experience. I took literally thousands of images and it will take me a long, long time to properly work through it. Thanks once again for this magnificent experience!!" Piet Smit
"The course is highly recommended for anyone wanting to know how to achieve the most from their camera when it comes to wildlife photography. Mashatu is an excellent place to view wildlife in big open wide spaces. The tented camp is great and has wonderful and friendly staff and is a very relaxing place to spend time at." Allan Elliot
"I have been taking photographs for many years, yet I learnt a lot from Shem during the photo workshop, and found that my work rapidly improved from day to day. The way that Shem organized the vehicles, drivers, trackers and lectures was excellent. The lighting was superb, being in the middle of winter with long hours of low light. The venue and availability and visibility of game were all excellent. The fact that we all had the same interests and objectives made this a very pleasant and rewarding experience. For anybody wanting to learn, improve or just enjoy photography, this photo workshop is a must."
"Having been on two previous safaris, my wife and I wanted to improve our photographic skills and expand our knowledge of the bush and its wildlife. With Shem as photo instructor and wildlife expert, not to mention congenial travel companion, we surpassed both goals in great settings. Among innumerable "keepers" we took were a leopard and his fresh kill, elephants successfully digging for water in a dry riverbed, cheetah stalking prey, lion, white rhino, buffalo and African wild dog. We learned why raptors are an excellent barometer of an eco-system. We plan to trek with him again... soon."
"I have travelled twice with C4 Images and Safaris Safaris and both have been extremely enjoyable trips. Shem is an excellent host, a knowledgeable guide, who has a great knack of spotting the wildlife and getting you into a position for a great photo. The Kalahari trip was a particular highlight for me with some great wildlife viewing. I would have no hesitation in recommending C4 Images and Safaris to friends looking for a photographic safari of a lifetime."

"A wonderful holiday. We fully recommend Botswana as a photographic location and C4 Images and Safaris as an excellent tour company. Can't say much more than everything just worked; a sure sign of the amount of work put in behind the scenes. It was a real bonus to have a professional nature photographer as our guide and a joy to find one who put his clients first in both subject selection and shooting opportunities. We were so pleased that we are currently booking our next holiday with C4 Images and Safaris."
Peter Paisley November 2007
"I highly recommend C4 Images and Safaris for a very special safari experience. Shem Compion was a wonderful, knowledgeable, and friendly guide who was helpful not only in telling us about the wildlife, but he also gave excellent tips on photography techniques, since he is a professional photographer. He will tailor the trip to what you are most interested in, be that a specific type of animal or if you are interested in a photography oriented tour. He can even help to organize your tour with a private game reserve, if you wish. We spent half of our trip with Shem at Kruger National Park and half at Mala Mala, which turned out to be a perfect balance. We actually saw some animals on our tour with Shem that we didn't see at Mala Mala. However, Mala Mala will allow you to get closer to the animals than at Kruger Park (since they can drive off road), so the two complemented each other very well. Shem takes care of all of your beverages, meals and snacks so we were never hungry or thirsty. I would highly recommend Shem and C4 Images and Safaris, and hope to go back again some day for another adventure in the bush!"
"An excellent 4 days and well worth the time spent. The presentations were well prepared and delivered. The atmosphere was relaxed and all participants were encouraged to ask questions and comment. I learnt a great deal about my camera and the techniques that are required to take great shots. In my case to start taking decent shots. I would strongly recommend the course to all but experienced photographers and in particular to those of us used to film - to dump the old knowledge and switch on to the technology required for the digital age."
Peter Benningfield November 2008
"Just a quick word to say how much my wife, and I enjoyed the photo workshop at Mashatu. The professionalism, patience and dedication, combined with the love of photography and nature, which Shem and Isak demonstrated made for one of the most pleasant experiences of our time in Africa. We both learned a great deal and I feel that I have crossed a threshold in my enjoyment of nature through photography. We will surely join you once again on another workshop in the near future." Guy Larin Testimonials for Courses:

"I would really recommend the course to anyone who is interested in photography! Shem is a great photographer and I envy him for the things he has done and continues to do. The course really impressed me with ways to open you're mind and see things in a different way, I can no longer just drive down the road, I am inspired now to take photos of absolutely everything I see!"
Tarryn Rademeyer
"I found the course to be extremely practical and useful! I could walk out and know how to apply myself when considering taking a photograph without getting too technical! Just with some practical tips my photos have improved simply with their composition. Knowing what to look out for with regards to lighting and using certain lighting conditions to my advantage, I am sure that with a bit of practise my photos will improve even more! Thank you for your presentation it was certainly worth the while!!"
