Botswana Photo Workshop
03 - 07 March 2010

Botswana's Okavango Delta is known as one of the last major wildernesses in the world. Due to the low impact tourism model of the delta, accommodation and flight costs in the Okavango are often prohibitively expensive for the normal African traveller.

In an exclusive agreement, C4 Images and Safaris have teamed up with Sanctuary Retreats and are able to provide an exclusive rate to South African residents within heart of the Okavango.
The rate below is for SADC working residents only. If you are an international traveller and would like to join this workshop, please enquire for the international rate with Shem Compion.

The rate is in US dollars, but of course payable in Rands. To sum it up: You get 4 nights in exclusive luxury in one of the best game viewing areas in Africa, with professional photographers as your hosts, at the same cost of one night stay on the normal rate. It does not get much better than this.

Here you will spend 4 nights on Chiefs Island within the Mombo concession in what has often been termed the 'Predator capital of Africa' and is considered to have the finest game viewing in Southern Africa. You will be staying at Chiefs Camp, one of Sanctuary Retreats prime and most sought after camps in the Okavango.
Chiefs Island is right in the middle of the Okavango system. It is the only place in Botswana that holds the Big 5 and it sensational wildlife viewing is a world-renowned attraction. Based on the Mombo private concession vehicles are allowed to follow up on sightings and you may stay out later at night offering even more photographic opportunities.

Botswana Photo Tour      Delta Photo Safari

We have pre-booked 6 rooms and will have 2 Professional Photographers on hand to help you get the best images whilst on this island paradise. This means there will be three photographers and 1 guide per vehicle. Each tent booked allows you one whole seat on the vehicle. Your tour leaders will be Isak Pretorius and Greg du Toit, you can read more about them here.

The workshop date is in March, one of the most exciting seasons in the delta. The rains have come, leaving a swath of green in its wake. The breeding birds are in their full flurry and the animals are all in good condition after the good grazing. Young animals litter the bush, as this is the nursery season. All the young also attract the predators which provide opportunities for us photographers. It really is a season of activity. All the breeding and migrant birds are in full force and along with the excellent waterbirds of the delta waters, provide excellent photography. Of course the hippos are ever present and provide good subjects inside and out of the water. It is a time of excitement in the Delta, with breeding and food storage for the birds being a priority and the mammals all in excellent condition. Of course, Chiefs camp is known for its excellent predator viewing and we wont neglect these. All in all an excellent time to be in the Delta!
